Lighting Spaces that are minimalist by design often feature many hard surfaces that are decidedly not sound friendly. Thanks to Finnish textile designer Anne Kyyrö Quinn, there’s a way to enhance sound quality dramatically and add beauty to a room at the same time. When you look at one of her custom-made wall coverings, you think art, not acoustic panel. Yet extensive testing on Kyyrö Quinn’s panels demonstrates their superior acoustic properties. While she works with a variety of materials, Kyyrö Quinn is best known for her use of industrial-grade wool felt, which is both sustainable and biodegradable; every piece is made to order in her London studio. These three-dimensional, sculptural creations add a striking, architectural note to any environment. Felt never looked better. View more at www.annekyyroquinn.com.

The name Bang-Olufsen has always been synonymous with elegance, and the company’s new BeoCom 5 home phone system is a gorgeous addition to the company’s telephone portfolio. The tasteful, jet-black handset features a reversed design that keeps the display clean of prints and smudges. But the attraction is far more than skin deep. The BeoCom 5 is an outstanding choice for the modern home with a home office. This two-line, cordless system handles up to eight handsets and supports IP-telephony, which provides data security and allows calls to be made and received via computer or traditional landline connection. A speakerphone is integrated into the unique, rounded base that can be unplugged and taken from room to room, so it’s ideal for conference calls. With nine display colors and eight ring tones, this unit is highly customizable. If you’re looking for a phone with brains and beauty, Bang-Olufsen’s got your number. For more information, visit

TON Art’s line of gorgeous loudspeakers was born out of the founder’s frustration at trying to find technology that complemented his modern art collection. Through a collaboration of artists, designers and craftspeople, the company has created limited, numbered editions of sculptures that serve as speakers and provide ambient lighting. These “art speakers” deliver high-fidelity sound via dual concentric speakers and either regular or low voltage light; simply connect them to any sound system and standard electrical outlet. Each sculpture is handcrafted from a variety of traditional and contemporary materials, including 23-karat gold leaf. Some stand alone, while others come in pairs. Favorites among the dozen beautiful shapes include the 24-by-14 Golden Egg, the 56-inch, wall-mounted Mayan Wheel, and the 83-inch Bullet Column. Gaze at them for yourself at www.tonartllc.com.
